What You’ll Be Doing

  • Identify potential suppliers, research products, and source appropriate materials to achieve optimal quality, pricing, and efficiency
  • Source and obtain pricing through online platforms, direct supplier quotes, contract pricing, and catalogues
  • Request and evaluate multiple quotes and issue purchase orders to ensure requirements for price, lead-time, quantity, and quality are met
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions to secure best overall value where applicable
  • Build and maintain positive supplier relationships to ensure consistent supply, quality service, and reliable delivery
  • Troubleshoot and locate parts, supplies, materials, and other components as needed
  • Other Administrative Support
  • Maintain familiarity with shipping and receiving processes and provide coverage support when required

What You Bring To The Table

  • Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Previous work experience in shipping and receiving or similar role would be an asset but not required
  • Previous work experience in steel manufacturing or mining industries would be considered an asset
  • Excellent computer and systems proficiency
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook) is required
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Strong time-management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to handle competing priorities simultaneously; work well under pressure with time-sensitive deadlines
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Strong problem identification and resolution skills
  • Ability to use judgment and apply discretion when making decisions
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Possess a positive and professional attitude, set a high standard, and convey professionalism at all times
  • Any valid safety-related training certificates would be considered an asset (i.e., WHMIS, fall protection, etc.)
  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities
