About the Opportunity

We are seeking a financial services professional with a strong background in client service to join our Private Client Group as an Associate. In this role, you will work closely with a team of Portfolio Managers to deliver a seamless, high-quality client experience while supporting the growth of our assets under management. Your responsibilities will include preparing and executing trade recommendations, coordinating and overseeing portfolio compliance, providing administrative support, and managing all aspects of the client experience to ensure it is warm, professional, and consistent.

The ideal candidate is client-focused, approachable, highly organized, process-driven, and meticulous in their attention to detail.

This is an in-office role, at our Ottawa location.

The Role

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Client Relationship Management & Service

  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for clients, managing day-to-day inquiries and ensuring a consistently exceptional experience.
  • Prepare for client meetings by assembling portfolio review packages, performance reports, and other relevant materials.
  • Proactively follow up on service requests and action items to maintain strong client relationships.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and compliant client records in accordance with firm and regulatory standards.

Investment & Financial Planning Support

  • Execute trades on behalf of the Portfolio Manager with precision and timeliness across multiple account types.
  • Conduct investment research and analysis to support portfolio construction and rebalancing decisions.
  • Gather and organize data to develop and maintain client financial plans, models, and projections.
  • Prepare and process account openings, transfers, and other related administrative transactions.

Business Development & Team Support

  • Identify opportunities to deepen existing client relationships and assist with prospecting new clients.
  • Manage the service delivery calendar for client-facing meetings, ensuring all materials are prepared in advance.
  • Provide additional administrative support as required to ensure the efficient operation of the practice.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the professional services industry, preferably in a client-facing or support role.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with an unwavering attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency with financial software and tools, including Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel); experience with Dataphile and Croesus is considered an asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to build rapport and trust with clients.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in business, finance, economics, or a related field preferred.
  • Canadian Securities Course (CSC) an asset.
  • Conduct and Practices Handbook (CPH) course is an asset.
  • Wealth Management Essentials (WME) course is an asset.
