About the role

Salary: $110,000–$130,000 CAD annually, based on experience and qualifications.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and general ledger management.
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Manage financial reporting for multiple affiliated corporations, including intercompany transactions.
  • Develop budgets, cash flow forecasts, and financial projections.
  • Analyze financial performance, operating expenses, product costing, and profitability.
  • Monitor banking activities, financing obligations, and compliance with loan covenants.
  • Oversee inventory accounting and manufacturing-related financial reporting.
  • Coordinate corporate tax filings, year-end reviews, and regulatory compliance with external accountants.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and operational efficiencies.
  • Provide financial insights and strategic recommendations directly to the President.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
  • Previous experience as a Controller or in a comparable senior accounting position.
  • Proficiency in Sage 50 accounting software is mandatory.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards, corporate taxation, and financial reporting.
  • Experience preparing financial statements, budgets, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain strict confidentiality.

Preferred:

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Experience in manufacturing, inventory accounting, or cost accounting.
  • Experience managing multiple corporate entities.
  • Familiarity with Ceridian payroll systems.
  • Experience with accounting software integrations and process improvements.
