The Downtown Community Safety Partnership (DCSP) is a made-in-Winnipeg approach to creating a safer
and more welcoming downtown through the availability of cohesive support and non-emergency
response to those in the community in need of support and assistance. The DCSP is committed to being a
proactive downtown presence, providing prevention and outreach focused on long-term solutions, and to
delivering a continuum of care that will help to effect significant change for individuals and the entire
downtown community.
The Human Resources Generalist supports core HR functions including recruitment, labour and employee relations in a unionized environment, policy compliance, payroll and benefits administration, and Health & Safety initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support full cycle recruitment process, including job postings, candidate sourcing, interviewing, orientation and onboarding.
- Provide administrative support for day-to-day Human Resources functions, including maintaining employee records and preparing HR documents.
- Supports labour relations within a unionized environment, including administration of the collective agreement, handling employee concerns, and coordinating grievance processes
- Ensure all HR activities comply with organizational policies and procedures as well as relevant laws and regulations.
- Address employee concerns, mediate conflicts, and foster a positive work environment.
- Organize and coordinate training sessions to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
- Assist with the administration of payroll and employee benefits, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Oversee the workers' compensation claims process, including documentation, reporting, and liaising with insurance providers to ensure fair and efficient handling of claims.
- Support and participate in the development and implementation of Health & Safety initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 2 years of experience with Human Resources processes and administrative tasks, preferably within a unionized environment.
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related field is an asset.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Detail oriented, strong planning and organizational skills with proven ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong knowledge of HR practices, policies, and employment laws.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Self-starter and keen to take on new opportunities and challenges, with a passion for continued learning.
- Previous experience in a non-profit organization an asset.
