Overview
We are seeking a Government Relations Advisor to join our organization. As part of a dynamic team, you
will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to effectively engage with the government
entities, monitor legislative and regulatory developments, and advocate for our organization's clients.
The role requires an understanding of government processes, strong communication and negotiation skills,
and the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders.
Location
Edmonton, Alberta.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute government affairs strategies to promote our clients’ goals and objectives.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory activities (federal/provincial/municipal) and provide
timely updates to internal stakeholders.
- Build and maintain relationships with government officials, policymakers, and other key
influencers.
- Conduct research and analysis on government policies, initiatives, and trends.
- Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and other materials to effectively communicate our
clients’ positions and priorities to government officials and other stakeholders.
- Stay informed about industry best practices and trends in government affairs to continuously
improve our strategies and approaches.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of government processes, legislative and regulatory frameworks, and public policy
issues.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex ideas and influence
decision-makers.
- Some experience in developing and implementing successful government affairs strategies.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with government officials, policymakers, and other
stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Organizational and time management skills to prioritize and manage multiple projects and
deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities to navigate complex government processes
and issues.
- Proficient in using relevant software and tools for research, analysis, and communication.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in political science, public policy, or a related field. A master's degree is
preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or a related field.
- Experience working with government officials and policymakers at various levels.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to travel as needed for meetings, conferences, and other relevant events.
