Payroll and Human Resources Specialist

Our client is a prominent player in the transportations and infrastructure sector, and they are looking for a Payroll & HR Specialist to join their growing team. At a high level, this position will be responsible to oversee bi-weekly payroll processing while also providing key human resources support to the team.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Manage end-to-end payroll processing, reviewing timecards, clearing exceptions, and ensuring timely approvals.
• Prepare and verify Records of Employment and handle remittances (CRA, WSIB, pension, benefits).
• Respond promptly to payroll inquiries while maintaining confidentiality.
• Champion the HRIS system for payroll, HR and any related employee life-cycle changes.
• Provide support to HR policy implementation and compliance with employment standards.
• Administer and manage the employee benefits program including enrollments, updates and terminations.
• Analyze key HR reporting metrics (turnover, headcount, compensation trends) to provide actionable insights.

Key Qualifications Include:

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in HR, Finance, Business Administration or related field of study.
• Minimum 3 years of experience of payroll processing and human resources support.
• Demonstrated proficiency and understanding of payroll and employment legislation, at the provincial and federal level.
• Proficiency with payroll/HRIS systems, coupled with strong Excel skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills, coupled with the ability to speak confidently with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated professionalism in managing confidential and sensitive information.
