Data Architect

Position Description

We are looking for an Azure Cloud architect who will contribute to creating our technology vision and work closely with software delivery teams to execute that vision. You will be a subject matter expert for 5-10 projects rather than being deeply embedded with a single team.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for developing cloud architecture patterns for Azure and submitting them to the divisional Architecture repository. Educating project teams on the Azure technology options, benefits, costs, etc.
• Working with central centers of excellence (Cloud, Data, Security, etc) to develop best practices and blueprints. Discover and incorporate new Azure or Open-Source technology choices into our Cloud Service Catalogue.
• Documentation of Cloud architectures and Architecture Decision Records.
• Weekly coordination with the Cloud Project team to qualify new requests.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of experience architecting reporting, trading, or client-facing solutions, ideally within Financial Services or a similar industry.
• Deep expertise in the Azure technologies: how they have evolved over time and will continue to evolve in the future.
• Excellent communication skills. Solid understanding (ideally hands-on experience) with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines, especially in the context of Azure.
• Deep expertise in architecting for resiliency: availability zones, regions, data replication.

Understanding of Architecture methodology (either from a consulting organization or from within a team that follows a structured Architecture process).

Nice to have

• Experience working with Kubernetes (Azure (AKS) or similar).
• Experience working with Kafka and/or Event Bus type architectures.
• Experience working with Snowflake or other cloud-based Data Platforms.
• Experience coding with Java Spring.
• Experience in building cost models and proactively exploring opportunities to reduce cost in Cloud (Serverless vs Always On, different service tiers, etc).
