Job Summary The incumbent is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of one or more of the production work centres within the System Engineering Facility. The role develops and leads a team of unionized Railroaders to ensure safe, quality, and efficient production and shipment of track products for Engineering’s Capital and Maintenance programs. Main Responsibilities Staff Management

  • Ensure effective, impactful, and engaging leadership of unionized staff producing track components
  • Improve team and individual Railroader performance through mentoring, training, coaching, auditing, and providing feedback
  • Create a culture of continuous improvement

Project Management

  • Coordinate and monitor products through the complete production cycle (e.g., planning, scheduling, staffing, producing, handling inventory, loading and shipping, documenting)
  • Build and maintain a production schedule and handle customer expectations
  • Ensure the production process is cost-effective and shipments are made on time
  • Communicate with customers regarding detailed product requirements, schedule, and shipping requirements

Safety

  • Coordinate, establish, and implement, standard operating procedures for safe and quality production
  • Ensure Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of safety, quality, and efficiency are met or exceeded
  • Complete Non-conformance reports (NCR’s) for material not meeting standards from vendors

Working Conditions The role is performed in a combination of office and outdoor environments in various types of weather conditions and requires working on a shift basis, Monday to Friday. The incumbent is required to be on call 24/7 to respond to critical incidents. The role requires occasional travel for field inspections within Canada and the United States (U.S.). Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure and stress. The position also requires spending a significant portion of the workday outside of the office, with an expectation of being present with different crews for at least 50% of the day. Requirements Experience Production Operations

  • Minimum 2 years of experience supervising, planning, coordinating, scheduling, and auditing production operations in a unionized environment

Education/Certification/Designation

  • Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) certified
  • Valid Driver’s Licence
  • First Aid and CPR certified

Technical Skills/Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of CN’s Engineering Track Standards, Track Standard Drawings, and Recommended Methods
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of Systems Applications and Products (SAP) Production Planning, Payroll, Time Reporting, Service Reliability System (SRS), eBusiness, Lotus Notes Performance Assessment Process (PAP) and Performance Monitoring Compliance Rules (PMRC)
  • Fluently bilingual in both written and verbal (English, French)*
  • Any knowledge for any of the above would be considered as an asset
