Requisition ID: 21940  Department: Planning, Development & Building Dept.  Service: Transportation Planning Service  Branch: Transportation Engineering Srvcs Branch Employment Type: 1 Full-time Permanent  & 1 Full time Temporary (Up to 6 months) Work Hours: 35.00 hours per week Affiliation: CIPP  Salary Information: $93,764.58 - $114,097.62  annually (2025 rates of pay) Location: City Hall,110 Laurier Avenue West   City: Ottawa, ON Job Category: Planning and Infrastructure  Application Close: 20/05/2026 Job Summary Transportation Planning is responsible for provincial and City land use planning policies and directions, including engineering design reviews and the processing of various development applications (such as subdivisions, condominiums, Zoning By-law amendments, site specific Official Plan Amendments, site plans, Committee of Adjustment applications, Part-Lot Control By-laws, road closures and openings, 30 cm reserves, etc.). Manages the Development Review process for the urban, suburban or rural areas. You are responsible for ensuring efficient and timely processing of engineering review and approvals on a variety of development applications such as subdivision and condominium plans, Zoning By-law amendments, Official Plan amendments and site plans. You: review and approve engineering designs for road proposals; manage peer review and master studies; assist the manager in identifying future needs; review and approve noise and traffic impact studies, environmental assessments and other related engineering designs prepared by external consultants for development-related proposals; act for the Senior Infrastructure Approvals Engineer in his/her absence; and provides functional supervision on an on-going basis. Education And Experience Completion of 4 year university degree in Civil Engineering, preferably Municipal, Civil or Transportation from a recognized university Minimum of 5 years of related and progressively responsible experience in the fields of roadway networks, infrastructure planning, design, project management and construction KNOWLEDGE

  • Project management principles and practices
  • Design, construction and operational practices for water distribution, sewer collection, road designs and traffic control
  • In-depth knowledge of the city’s municipal utility (water, road, sewer) infrastructure
  • Transportation engineering including traffic control, traffic regulation and geometric design practices
  • MOE, MTO, TAC (Transportation Association of Canada) design criteria
  • Development/Engineering Approval procedures

  • Capital and operating budget processes
  • Principles of project and contract management
  • Facilitation and negotiation processes
  • Community and public consultation process
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.
