About Us

The Canadian Coatings Association (CCA) is the national voice of Canada’s coatings industry. From construction and infrastructure to automotive manufacturing, forestry products, transportation, and defence, coatings play a critical role in protecting assets, extending product life, and advancing sustainability.

CCA advocates with governments and regulators, advances pragmatic policy solutions, and provides timely insight on issues that affect our members’ businesses. The Canadian coatings sector contributes $19.5 billion annually to the Canadian economy, supports more than 130,000 jobs across the country with exports valued at $660 million annually.

Why This Role Matters

This role sits at the centre of CCA’s communications and member engagement efforts. You will help shape the voice of a national industry association that engages directly with government, industry and members on policies affecting construction, manufacturing, and Canada’s broader industrial economy.

The Role

CCA is seeking a dynamic and strategic communications professional to lead our internal and external communications, strengthen engagement with our national membership and partner associations around the world.

This reimagined, high-impact role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys shaping an organization’s voice, and wants to help communicate the value of an essential Canadian industry.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead CCA’s member and public communications, including newsletters, advocacy updates, media releases, and event promotions
  • Serve as editor-in-chief for CCA communications, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and consistency with the association’s brand and voice
  • Develop and implement communications strategies that strengthen CCA’s profile and demonstrate value to members
  • Manage social media, digital marketing campaigns, and promotional materials across online and print channels
  • Support member engagement initiatives and events, including conferences, board meetings, and member programming
  • Provide strategic communications advice to the President & CEO on messaging, branding, and member engagement

Qualifications

  • 3–7 years of experience in communications, public relations, or member engagement (trade association, government, or industry experience preferred)
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and content development skills
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat Pro)
  • Bilingualism (English/French) strongly preferred
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a small team environment
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for events and meetings

You Might Be a Great Fit If You:

  • Enjoy translating complex policy issues into clear, compelling messaging
  • Thrive in a small, collaborative team where you can take ownership of projects
  • Want to help shape the public profile of a national industry association
  • Like working at the intersection of industry, government, and public policy

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to help shape the voice and profile of a national industry association
  • A collaborative and supportive team environment
  • Competitive salary, benefits, and RRSP matching
  • Four weeks’ vacation, five personal days, and office closure between Christmas and New Year’s
  • Professional development funding
  • Hybrid work model based in downtown Ottawa
