Position Summary:
The Payroll Clerk is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of weekly and bi-weekly payrolls across multiple provinces, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and internal policies. This position supports the Payroll Manager and acts as a key point of contact for site teams and employees regarding payroll-related inquiries. _The role is a 3-month contract position with the possibility of extension based on business needs and performance._Key Responsibilities:
- Process full-cycle, multi-provincial payrolls on a weekly and bi-weekly basis with a high degree of accuracy.
- Balance and validate electronic timesheets, including adjustments, retroactive pay, and termination calculations.
- Prepare and submit Records of Employment (ROEs), troubleshoot discrepancies, and ensure data integrity.
- Calculate, withhold, and remit garnishments and other statutory deductions as required.
- Verify tax and TD1 information, ensuring updates are processed in accordance with employee submissions and legislative changes.
- Serve as the primary payroll contact for multiple site locations across Canada, providing timely and professional support.
- Respond to employee and third-party inquiries while maintaining confidentiality and exceptional customer service standards.
- Collaborate with HR, accounting, and operations teams to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance.
- Assist with audits, reconciliations, and continuous improvement initiatives within the payroll function.
Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of experience in a high-volume, fast-paced payroll environment.
- Experience processing multi-province payrolls within a large organization.
- Proficiency with Dayforce payroll software preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, data accuracy, and confidentiality.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Active or in-progress Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation considered an asset.
- Flexibility to work overtime as required to meet critical deadline.
