Brandt is currently looking for a Heavy Equipment Technician - Material Handling for our Winnipeg location. The Heavy Equipment Technician - Material Handling independently performs basic/complex diagnostics, service maintenance and repair work on customer and/or dealer-owned equipment on an efficient basis. Resolves customer issues to their satisfaction on a timely basis. Duties & ResponsibilitiesFinancial Performance:
- Work within budgets and approvals provided by the Service Manager.
- Maintain a high level of productivity, efficiency, and gross margin.
- Maintain a quality of work metric of 98% (% of work completed right the first time).
Work Systems And Procedures
- Accurately record all work done for customer and warranty records.
- Maintain current product knowledge of equipment specific to industry/branch location.
- Maintain a clean work area and perform work in a neat and orderly manner.
- Follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments. Must maintain thorough understanding of Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) systems and standards, and a commitment to a safe working environment, ensuring all employees and customers are kept safe at all times.
- Ensure knowledge and compliance of proper procedure for disposal of hazardous waste material.
- Work within the guidelines set by the directors and managers.
- Perform all service tasks as assigned by the Material Handling Service Manager or the Material Handling Service Department Foreman.
- Participate in Service Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge. This may also include training related industry-specific technologies.
- Maintain and care for department tools, equipment, and vehicles.
- Mentor and oversee apprentices.
Diagnostic And Mechanical, Electrical, Or Hydraulic Repair
- Perform basic/complex power equipment diagnostics to determine repair needs.
- Diagnose and repair all related systems (disassembly, assembly, and repair).
- Perform customer, manufacturer, or government inspections on equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment (such as forklifts, stackers, electric carts, electric tow trucks, transporters).
- Utilize drill presses, grinders, air compressors, and common hand/ power tools to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on material handling equipment.
- Prepare all reports and forms required in conjunction with job assignments (Work Order submitted immediately at completion of job).
