Black Diamond Group’s Corporate Finance team has a full-time position for Senior Accountant, This role is hybrid - in-office with 20% flexibility to work from home. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, the Senior Accountant will be part of the financial reporting team. The position encompasses a multitude of accounting deliverables under tight deadlines, including monthly preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, various audit working papers, account reconciliations, and data analysis. The person in this role demonstrates a proactive approach and initiative when handling reporting and analytical activities to ensure that all tasks are handled efficiently, professionally and in a timely manner. This person must be highly organized, with excellent time management skills, strong attention to detail and strong communication skills. Responsibilities
- Assist in accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close including financial and operating reporting for senior management
- Assist with various reporting related to bank and partnership entities
- Performs timely balance sheet account reconciliations
- Assist with various accounting projects including ERP implementation, legal entity financial statements in support of tax returns and other financial reporting projects or analysis, as required.
- Assist in the preparation of the Client Assistance Package materials for external auditor for quarterly reviews and YE audit
- Prepare MDA and press release quarterly including drafting content and working with other teams to coordinate the completion of these documents
- Assist in the handling of non-routine reporting transactions
- Proactively identify and assist in the implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the financial reporting group
- Coach and mentor other team members
- Provide support, respond to queries and maintain good relations with other departments and divisions
- Assist with ad hoc requests as required.
Qualifications
- Professional accounting designation required (2+ years of post-designation experience preferred)
- Experience in preparing year-end packages, including financial statements and notes
- Previous experience in internal and external audits
- Demonstrated advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Proven analytical skills and demonstrated initiative to problem solve
- Possess a professional and ethical attitude with the ability to manage concurrent deadlines.
- Working experience with SAP Business One, NetSuite, Wdesk and Oracle EPM Cloud considered an asset
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, capable of professional interaction with various levels of operations and other departments
- Pro-active, self-starter
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Enthusiastic, innovative, and motivated team player with excellent customer service skills
- Must be fluent in English, both oral and written
