About BHP - Jansen The Jansen project in Saskatchewan, Canada is set to become one of the largest potash mines in the world and is located approximately 140 kilometers east of Saskatoon. As the largest investment in Saskatchewan’s history, Jansen is expected to generate approximately 5,500 workforce opportunities during construction and 900 long-term roles. Once fully ramped up, Jansen is expected to have an initial production capacity of approximately 8.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), with the potential to produce 16 to 17 Mtpa in future stages. The associated work schedule will be 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Hybrid working (flexible, shared workstations and a combination of office and work from home) is standard for BHP. BHP offers relocation assistance to support the successful incumbent in transitioning, if required. Benefits offered as part of the relocation program include (but are not limited to) new home purchase assistance, temporary accommodations, home finding trip and a resettlement allowance. About The Role This is an exciting opportunity for a leadership communications practitioner. The position will join a highly capable team of communications professionals to shape and share BHP’s story in North America. This role is a 12-month term position.In This Role, You Will

  • Drive the development and execution of BHP’s Canadian communications strategy.
  • Lead and coach Principal and Specialist level team members on a day-to-day basis.
  • This role oversees the development and execution of communications strategies with an emphasis on our Jansen project in Saskatchewan, Canada. You will also work on local, national and global campaigns.
  • The role supports the Head of Corporate Affairs to deliver high quality, strategic communications.

About You We are seeking a highly motivated senior communications professional with the ability to lead teams, build trust with senior executives, and deliver compelling content for a range of audiences. We Are Seeking Attributes Such As

  • Proven capability to lead and develop a high performing communications teams.
  • Ability to build trust with and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • An understanding of global, regional and national policy and business environment and its impact on BHP.
  • Strong writing, editing and multimedia content development skills.
  • A passion for clear, plain language communication, and storytelling. 
  • Experience in developing effective communications strategies for external and internal audiences.
  • Ability to collaborate and lead cross-functional teams.
  • An audience first mindset and a good understanding of digital measurement.
  • Strong and proven experience to mentor and coach a small team of communications professionals and make a positive impact on their career at BHP.
