About The Role As ATB’s next Director, Diversified Industries, you will be a member of the division’s leadership team, reporting to the Managing Director, Diversified industries & Energy Services. You will manage high value relationships with mid to senior market corporate clients. The primary focus of the Director is to be a relationship sales leader spending a significant amount of time in direct or indirect contact with clients, contacts and prospects, enhancing current relationships with ATB clients and developing new opportunities across the Diversified market. You will coordinate efficient delivery of ATB financial services, identify and meet both credit and non-credit needs of the client including syndication, capital markets, foreign exchange, derivatives, cash management and direct lending. Accountabilities
- Build and maintain long term relationships with Diversified clients to cement lasting relationships, to access business opportunities in all parts of the clients’ company throughout the life cycle.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with counterparts at other financial institutions to facilitate syndicated or other shared lending projects.
- Regularly meet with clients, prospects and centers of influence, spending a majority of your time enhancing relationships.
- Analyze client files for existing relationships and opportunities to maximize the relationship through new loan, mortgage, payroll, card, cash management, wealth management, derivatives and deposit gathering business.
- Analyze and negotiate client deals to ensure profitability of the relationship.
- Meet or exceed goals and targets related to growth or maintenance of their assigned portfolio, including profitability goals and targets.
- Respond and follow-up on opportunities generated and referred from other ATB sources of referrals.
- Actively participate and or lead sales team meetings, sharing successes, best practices and other information with the team.
- Manage relationships with internal business partners including Capital Markets, Credit, Cash Management, Treasury, Derivatives etc.
- Ensure credit decisions / recommendations are in accordance with sound credit granting principles and are in accordance with ATB lending policy and procedures.
- Establish and enhance ATB's presence and profile in the market area by participating in business and community activities.
- Maintain a constant pipeline of business consisting of new prospects, deals in various stages of negotiations, and business that will close within a short timeframe. Prepare and provide detailed monthly pipeline deal reports.
- Maintain a centre of influence calling effort in order to advance business opportunities and ATB’s reputation with key sources of new client referrals, including industry associations, private equity firms, accountants, lawyers, etc.
- Act as a mentor and play a key role in the ongoing development of more junior team members.
Skills, Experience & Requirements
- Commercial/corporate lending experience at a senior level including complex lending with direct experience in an origination role is an asset.
- In depth experience and understanding of corporate finance, credit structures and credit agreements.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with clients, prospects, internal contacts, and associates.
- Excellent oral communication and presentation skills; strong ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels throughout the organization.
- Proven ability and success in maintaining an active sales pipeline, generating new business and meeting growth targets.
- Able to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings as the situation requires.
- Proven ability to produce effective results while working independently with limited supervision, but also be an effective team member.
- Business or marketing related degree or diploma with related experience.
- MBA, CFA or accounting designation would be considered a strong asset.
