Role Overview This is a strategic business development role focused on expanding adoption, usage, and indexation of Argus crude benchmarks in Canada. Canada represents a core growth market for Argus, with globally significant crude production and increasingly complex pricing dynamics driven by evolving trade flows and market access. Ongoing shifts in global crude markets are increasing demand for transparent, trusted benchmarks—creating a strong opportunity to grow Argus’ position, particularly across WCS Houston and related pricing markets. This role will lead engagement across Canadian oil markets, with primary responsibility for crude oil and the opportunity to expand into LPGs and refined products over time. What will you be doing? Core Mandate

  • Drive adoption and indexation of Argus crude benchmarks across producers, traders, refiners and major market participants
  • Expand usage of Argus pricing in:
  • Term and spot contracts
  • Internal pricing and risk frameworks
  • Lead business development across Canadian oil markets, acting as a senior commercial representative for Argus benchmarks

Market Development & Strategy

  • Develop and execute a strategic plan to grow usage of Argus crude benchmarks (including WCS, Edmonton, Houston-linked flows, TMX and related markets)
  • Identify and develop new pricing opportunities across crude and adjacent markets
  • Monitor market developments and structural shifts (flows, liquidity, dislocations) and translate these into commercial opportunities

Client Engagement

  • Build and maintain senior relationships across key market participants including producers, traders, refiners, and commercial teams
  • Influence pricing decisions and benchmark selection in commercial contracts
  • Expand Argus’ coverage and engagement across top-tier Canadian accounts

Internal Collaboration

  • Act as the voice of the Canadian market internally, representing client needs and feedback
  • Work closely with editorial and product teams to develop and enhance price assessments
  • Partner with marketing, sales and leadership to strengthen messaging and positioning of Argus benchmarks

What We’re Looking For In You

  • ~8+ years’ experience in crude oil markets
  • Strong understanding of pricing mechanisms, benchmarks, and market structure
  • Experience influencing commercial decisions (e.g., pricing, contracts, index selection)
  • Existing relationships across Canadian oil market participants
  • Strong commercial mindset with ability to identify and unlock new opportunities
  • Credibility with senior external stakeholders (traders, commercial leads, analysts)
  • Ability to operate across crude and expand into adjacent markets (LPGs/refined products)
  • Clear, confident communicator across senior audiences
  • Highly collaborative and comfortable operating in a matrix organization

What’s In It For You Our rapidly growing, award-winning business offers a dynamic environment for talented, entrepreneurial professionals to achieve results and grow their careers. Argus recognizes and rewards successful performance and as an Investor in People, we promote professional development and retain a high-performing team committed to building our success.

  • Competitive salary with bonus
  • Hybrid work model
  • Comprehensive health benefits (group medical, dental, vision plans)
  • Retirement plan with company contribution
  • 20 vacation days your first year, up to a maximum of 30 days
  • Training, development and career progression opportunities
