SCOPE OF POSITION:
Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) provides proactive HR support and guidance to designated business units. The HRBP is a trusted advisor and coach to managers and employees on a wide range of HR matters, including employee relations, talent development, compliance, recruitment, and organizational effectiveness. This role works collaboratively across departments to help foster a high-performing, engaged, and inclusive workplace culture.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as a strategic partner to managers and employees, ensuring alignment between business objectives and HR practices.
- Provide daily HR guidance and interpretation of policies and procedures.
- Address employee relations issues, conduct investigations, and support conflict resolution in alignment with company policies and legal requirements.
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation (ESA, AODA, OSHA, etc.) and internal standards. Draft and recommend policies for approval and implement as required.
- Partner with and support hiring managers through talent acquisition processes, including job postings, interviewing, and selection. Manage effective onboarding programs that support employee integration and retention.
- Support the implementation of performance management processes, including goal setting, feedback, and performance evaluations.
- Identify and facilitate employee training and development opportunities in alignment with company learning initiatives. Coordinate and deliver training sessions related to compliance, leadership, and professional development to promote continuous learning.
- Utilize HR systems and tools to maintain employee records and generate reports.
- Contribute to the HR system management by inputting data and ensuring information is current and accurate. Support data analysis initiatives to provide insights on turnover, engagement, and other key HR metrics.
- Support initiatives to foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture. Collaborate on employee engagement activities and feedback mechanisms (e.g., surveys, focus groups).
- Partner with health and safety leaders to promote and maintain a safe workplace.
- Support return-to-work and accommodation programs.
- Conduct research and prepare reports with analysis and recommendations on HR programs, policies and procedures for the continuous improvement of HR programs, policies, and procedures.
- Work collaboratively and safely with colleagues in cross-functional roles and departments for related projects.
- Other related duties, as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- College diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation or equivalent, an asset.
- Minimum of 4 years of HR experience with some experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting, an asset, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of Ontario employment legislation and labour laws for compliance requirements.
- Experience using HR systems.
- Experience delivering HR services in a medium-sized company, preferably in a unionized environment.
- Experience managing full-cycle talent acquisition, including onboarding programs.
- Experience providing coaching and guidance to managers and employees.
- Experience implementing performance management practices in a unionized environment.
- Experience developing and implementing training and development programs is an asset.

WORK CONDITIONS:
- Extensive computer use and may involve long periods of sitting.
- Extensive mental effort to analyze information and prepare written materials.
- Significant relationship management with stakeholders, which may include conflict management or difficult situations.
- This position is normally on site at least 3 days a week.
