Chemistry Subject Matter Expert (AI Training)About The Role We're looking for chemistry experts to help evaluate and improve AI systems trained on advanced scientific content. Your deep subject knowledge will directly shape how AI understands and reasons through complex chemistry problems — making a real impact on the next generation of AI models. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. You choose when you work, and your expertise does the heavy lifting.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Design advanced chemistry problems to rigorously test AI performance across domains such as chemical engineering, biochemistry, and physical chemistry
  • Develop clear, step-by-step solutions with logically sound, well-structured reasoning
  • Evaluate AI-generated outputs for scientific accuracy, depth, and quality of reasoning
  • Collaborate with researchers to refine and improve benchmarks spanning undergraduate to Master's-level chemistry topics
  • Provide structured, actionable feedback that helps AI models improve over time

Who You Are

  • Currently pursuing or have completed a Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a closely related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills across advanced chemistry domains
  • Able to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly and precisely in writing
  • Detail-oriented with a systematic approach to evaluating quality
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently and asynchronously
  • No prior AI experience required

Nice to Have

  • Experience with data annotation, data quality assessment, or evaluation workflows
  • Familiarity with large language models or AI-generated content
  • Background spanning multiple chemistry sub-disciplines

Why Join Us

  • Work on cutting-edge AI projects in collaboration with top research labs
  • Fully remote and flexible — work on your own schedule, from anywhere
  • Freelance perks: autonomy, variety, and global collaboration
  • Contribute to meaningful work that advances how AI reasons about science
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
