Database Administrator

Akkodis is looking for an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to support a large Government of Canada initiative. This role will be located in the Halifax, NS area.

Tasks may include:

• Administering and maintaining Oracle and SQL Server databases, including installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and performance tuning.
• Managing Oracle Multitenant environments, including provisioning, cloning, and maintaining pluggable databases.
• Performing database backup, recovery, and monitoring activities to ensure data integrity, system availability, and optimal performance.
• Troubleshooting and resolving database and application issues in production environments, applying debugging techniques and root cause analysis.
• Developing and optimizing SQL and PL/SQL code to support application development, data management, and business reporting requirements.
• Analyzing and documenting technical problems and business requirements, providing clear solutions and technical guidance to stakeholders.
• Collaborating with development and operations teams, using version control tools (e.g., Git or Subversion) and adhering to best practices in change management and deployment.

Minimum of 5+ years of experience in the following:

• Defining new database structures and conversion strategies.
• Maintaining and safeguarding databases.
• Providing recommendations to improve existing databases.
• Providing recommendations on the efficient use of data.

Candidates must hold an active Secret Security Clearance from the Government of Canada, or be eligible to obtain one.
