Job Description
The Manager, Quality Assurance and Project Management reports to the Director, Regulatory Compliance and PRM and is responsible for the performance of Quality Assurance as it applies to AMO 32/87 and Air Transat. This position ensures all maintenance related documentation meet Manufacturer and/or Transport Canada requirements at all times. This position provides a critical source of assistance for members across the organization with respect to policy and process execution ensuring safe compliant operations.
Responsibilities
- Assists the Director of Regulatory Compliance and PRM in the performance of his duties and shall accomplish any other Quality Assurance duties assigned by him;
- Qualified to Perform audits to ensure maintenance standards are being upheld and approved. Monitors compliance with applicable standards and adequacy of procedures based on regulatory requirements. IATA-IOSA standards and recommended practices (ISARPs) and the Organization’s requirements;
- Notifies the affected parties of impending changes in regulations that may affect them, and monitors and assists authorized personnel to resolve Quality Assurance regulatory issues;
- Responsible for MCM / MPM revisions and to communicate these changes to affected departments following a revision as required;
- Documents the required processes / procedures for various departments and revises on a regular basis the Corporate Quality Management System Manual;
- Support quality and safety initiatives and investigations;
- Implements and lead projects with various divisions using different methodologies, to target process improvement, cost savings and efficiency initiatives;
- In conjunction with the Director Regulatory Compliance maintains positive business relationships with other airlines, manufacturers, contractors and regulatory bodies regarding Quality Assurance business practices;
- Assist in aircraft importations and returns;
- In collaboration with the Director of Quality Assurance ensure that all SDR reports are submitted to Transport Canada;
- Participates in the evaluation and risk assessment of aircraft maintenance and component maintenance suppliers;
- Ensure that all Technical Library documents are maintained as per CARs requirements and company policies;
- Perform other duties and assignments as requested by the Director of Regulatory Compliance and Process Improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Engineering, or Aircraft Maintenance Engineer or equivalent;
- Years of experience: at least 10 years in aviation related field;
- Qualified Auditor with experience in quality systems pertaining to Aviation. eg AS 9100 or IOSA preferred;
- Knowledge of Aviation Regulatory framework both domestic and international (CARs, FARs, EASA);
- Language skills: Oral and written fluency in French and English*;
- Information systems: Advanced user of MS Office suite (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook.) XML, SGML;
- Experience in current quality management methodologies, (LEAN, 6 Sigma, etc).
*A good knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec. The incumbent will be required to communicate and collaborate frequently in English, both orally and in writing, with colleagues, customers, and other stakeholders in Quebec, the rest of Canada, and internationally.
