Job Description:
On behalf of our public sector client, Affinity is looking for a Sr. Service Designer to be responsible for supporting a data centre of excellence that delivers services to enable data access, analytics, and economy to support data-informed decision making. This role works with other individuals within the Data Centre of Excellence and across the organization to effectively deliver data products as the organization's data assets. The role focuses on delivering data products with agility, a focus on business outcomes, innovation, and transformation to ensure data is treated as a corporate asset. This role supports the Data Product Delivery team in defining the scope, roadmap, designing the product, prototyping of data products, and product opportunities for the organization and its external partners (as needed).
Responsibilities:
• Conduct review, discovery, requirements gathering, process mapping, service design, technical documentation, prototyping, evaluation, and gap analysis for program review and data product delivery.
Project Deliverables (Iterative)
• Integration of human-centered design methods into program review and data product delivery.
• Analysis and documentation of project outcomes, including:
• Efficiency of use for staff.
• Ease of access to services for citizens.
• Analysis of internal and external data user experiences across channels (e.g., data pipelines, user interfaces, catalogues, architecture), including:
o Identification of gaps.
o Review of current processes.
o Discovery of opportunities and solutions.
• Development and delivery of a plan based on business stakeholders and GoA policies, goals, priorities, and opportunities, including:
o User and behavioral field research.
o Co-design workshops.
o Prototype design and testing.
o Concept testing.
o Journey map and service blueprint development.
o Process mapping.
o Service prototyping.
o User story mapping and creation.
o Usability testing.
o Service performance measurement, analysis, and reporting.
o Strategy and roadmap documents or diagrams.
o Depiction of the overall end-to-end data/analytics product service journey, including:
o End-to-end process mapping.
o Current and future state mapping.
o Identification of specific needs, opportunities, solutions, and metrics.
o Plan for integrating specific design and product features into the overall data service experience, including measurement of results.
o Co-design and development of new processes and policies with program teams (executives and front-line staff) to support change management.
• Plan for integrating new data architectural solutions into existing data service operations, addressing:
o Migration impacts.
o Data management innovation.
o Change management.
o Data governance.
Qualifications:
Education:
The proposed resource must meet or exceed one of the following:
• University graduation in computer science or a related discipline and 4 years of relevant experience
• 2-year diploma in computer science or a related discipline and 6 years of relevant experience
• 1-year certificate in computer science or a related discipline and 7 years of relevant experience
• A currently active professional certification or accreditation and 8 years of relevant experience
Work Experience:
• 6 years of experience creating journey maps, service blueprints, or other visual representations of user needs
• 6 years of experience facilitating and leading co-design workshops
• 8 years of experience using human-centered design approaches (UX, customer experience, service design, interaction design, etc.)
• 8 years of experience working with digital or data products (data pipelines, data user interfaces, data catalogues, data architecture, etc.)
• 8 years of experience working as a Service Designer on projects comparable in size and complexity to service innovation, program review, or digital transformation initiatives
• 5 years of experience analyzing research data and presenting findings in diverse ways
• 5 years of experience creating service metrics and measures
• 5 years of experience moving through projects, shifting focus from small details to understanding the whole system and the relationships between components
• 5 years of experience planning, conducting, and analyzing behavioral/ethnographic field research to understand user, employee, and government needs and goals
• 2 years of experience working in or for the public sector
