Job DescriptionAECOM is actively seeking a talented and highly motivated Senior Building Performance Consultant to join the Canada Buildings and Places (B+P) group. This multidisciplinary team provides high-performance design leadership and consulting on sustainable buildings and communities, with projects ranging from net-zero buildings to large-scale eco-city planning. This is a newly created position offering the opportunity to contribute to innovative and impactful projects. The ideal candidate has a background in Engineering, Building Science, Architecture, or a related field, with demonstrated experience in the green building sector and strong expertise in building energy simulation. They are a collaborative team player, able to work effectively in multidisciplinary environments while delivering high-quality analysis under tight deadlines. Key responsibilities include:
- Lead whole-building performance modelling and analysis, including design option evaluations, ASHRAE 90.1 / NECB / TGS energy modelling, daylight simulations, parametric modelling, and embodied carbon analysis
- Support clients in achieving net-zero and decarbonization goals through advanced modelling and strategy development
- Perform high-level energy analysis for campuses and building portfolios using energy planning tools and AI-driven analytics
- Review mechanical, electrical, and architectural drawings and specifications against sustainability and performance targets
- Prepare and present technical results and recommendations to clients and project teams
- Produce detailed reports outlining energy modelling results, certification pathways, and design strategies
- Conduct research and technical analysis to support project delivery
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide performance-driven design feedback
- Support sustainability strategies, energy planning, and resiliency initiatives
- Contribute to green building certification submissions
- Manage complex projects, ensuring quality and timely delivery
- Mentor junior staff and support knowledge-sharing in energy modelling and sustainable design
QualificationsMinimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Building Science, Architecture, or related field
- 6+ years in the building industry, including 4+ years in energy modelling
- Proficiency with IES-VE
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong experience delivering end-to-end building energy modelling (incl. QA/QC)
- Proficiency with tools such as EnergyPlus, eQuest, DesignBuilder, OpenStudio, Trane Trace
- Experience with parametric modelling (e.g., Grasshopper, Dynamo)
- Knowledge of energy codes and standards (ASHRAE 90.1, NECB, SB-10)
- Experience with energy audits (ASHRAE Level 1–3), decarbonization strategies, and net-zero design
- Familiarity with green building certifications (LEED, Zero Carbon, Passive House)
- Experience with LCA, embodied carbon, and LCCA (e.g., Athena, OneClick LCA)
- Exposure to tools such as RETScreen, Ladybug, WUFI, Insight 360, Therm
- Experience across sectors (institutional, transit, industrial, etc.)
- Site audits, data collection, and M&V experience
Credentials (Assets):
- Master’s degree in a relevant field
- P.Eng. designation
- Certifications such as LEED AP, CEM, BEMP, WELL AP

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $82000 to $130000.
